The Diploma Programme is meant for students with a strong academic focus, who want to do a pre-university program after CXC. The program takes two years and is seen by many as the best internationally recognized High School Diploma.
The IB Diploma curriculum encompasses six subject groups together with a core made up of three separate parts.
The IB organization illustrates this using a hexagon with the three parts of the core at its center circling the IB Learner Profile. Students study six subjects selected from the subject groups.
Three subjects are studied at higher level, and the remaining three subjects are studied at standard level.
All three parts of the core—Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Action, Service—are compulsory and are central to the philosophy of the Diploma Programme.
Students who would like to continue in the IB Program after finishing C.X.C. are strongly advised to take into account the subjects that will be offered in this program before choosing their final CXC-CSEC subject package.
